Rick has many years of experience in the food industry, especially in regulatory affairs and quality assurance. In regulatory issues, he has worked extensively in label requirements, process approval, GRAS affirmation, FDA, USDA, EPA, CDC, WHO, NAFTA, FTC, BATF, Country of Origin issues, and tariff codes. He is well versed in Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Purchasing, Product Safety & Liability and Biotechnology. He has worked with many multi-national companies. At Unilever, he worked with the technical group to help them communicate more effectively with senior management. He led a project that established 12 laboratories in six countries. Moving the labs closer to the business units significantly decreased the company's cost of testing while increasing the amount of testing that could be done. He trained host country national employees to maintain the testing laboratories, reducing maintenance costs and downtime. Rick has many years of experience in microbiology. Rick saw the need to be able to translate complex, technical microbiological data into meaningful data that was presentable and easy to understand and interpret by scientists, staff, and management. He knew if he could translate the figures into pictures, he could show how quickly the the return on investment covered the costs of air sampling and remediation. Rick sees himself as a practical microbiologist. He is a Fellow in the Royal Society of Health and serves on 3M Corporations's Scientific Advisory Panel. |
